Dry bulk handling, storage and transshipment

Dry bulk handling and global logistics are vital to many industries

Dry bulk & storage

The loading/unloading of (dry) bulk materials such as coal and ores from/in seagoing vessels and inland barges, trucks and freight trains or the movement of bulk batches at storage sites is often a rather "dusty affair. Loose dust particles escape by air movement through the air and this causes dust formation and thus dust nuisance for your employees and the environment, even in calm weather. In addition, valuable material is lost and you simply feel this in your wallet.

On site, shovels or conveyors are used to transport bulk materials to and from the stockpiles. These heaps of bulk material are then stored on your site for longer or shorter periods of time. Stockpiles are generally very susceptible to weather conditions such as wind or rain. You know from your own experience that dust control by means of pure and only water during movement or storage is unfortunately not sufficient. Moreover, water is more and more a scarce product. In many places it is no longer even available in sufficient quantities (for dust control) and thus water is also increasingly expensive to use.

Dust control solutions

Like no other, we understand your dust challenges and therefore offer effective, efficient and affordable dust emission reduction solutions.

For example, when storing bulk material, our crust formers are sprayed over the stockpiles like a blanket, forming a thin, durable crust layer -in white, green or transparent as desired- that significantly reduces material drift & loss. As required, the life of this crust is 2 to 52 weeks or longer if needed.

Experience shows that dust challenges also occur at drop points on the belts or when handling the bulk material in the hopper. Here, solutions based on atomization can be employed. Moreover, by adding an additive to the mist, the action of water is much more effective. This is because the additive ensures that the water opens up, as it were, and can therefore hit/bind dust particles.

By using our dust control solutions, initial savings in water consumption of up to 70-80% are achieved.
